Around 50 years ago, Maharashtra recognized the need for career guidance and the government started a one-year diploma to train teachers in vocational guidance. Since then 30 teachers have been certified every year.
Govt. of Maharashtra realized that only 2% of grade 10 students had access to career guidance. They invited NGOs to partner with them to scale the Kal Chachani project.
